Random System Lockups with ATI 9700 Pro
I have some systems that use SCSI disks and some that use SATA disks. They are identical in everyway except for the sata vs SCSI drives. At random times, the sata based systems seem to be freezing. You can ping them and they respond, but you cannot log in. Nor are any logs processed during that time.

system lockups
I've been having random system lockups on a dual-AMD system for sometime now that have now reached the point where I'm trying to do something about them. I'm wondering if someone can see something in my setup that might be a leading culprit. System: Dual AMD 1800+ MP processors (with fans for cooling, of course).

Random system lockups - pointers on what to try next?
When I'd check the ssh session I had to the remote system it was locked up tight. I only saw the stray interrupt message once and in the subsequent two lockups there was no message on the console. I've have a number of systems with the SMC Etherpower II cards and haven't had any problems with them.

system lockups in -current - during boot.
Since installing an 8meg G200 Mill in my system, I've experienced a few system lockups. Once while running through menus in G-Police, and the other times while doing random stuff in Win98...opening folders, reading news, etc. Granted, win95/98 isn't the most stable operating system (*understatement alert*),

I've made pretty good progress now and am trying to learn the basics in between system lockups. :) An OS/2 system lockup during installation almost always can be traced to a hardware problem. That 7% is a catastrophic strain on the system. Sorry that logic just doesn't cut it. Is this a scientific test? No, not by any means. But I think it's a fair one, and representative of normal use. Since we're probably not going to change each others' opinions on this one, though, we should probably just agree to

I've checked out all of your suggestions and, unfortunately, I still have the problem with system lockups. I first took out the WinTV card and I still had system lockups.
